Day 4: Discover the Natural Wonders of Pamukkale & Ancient Hierapolis
After breakfast at your Kuşadası hotel, we will meet early in the lobby for an exciting journey to Pamukkale. The drive takes approximately three hours, leading to one of Türkiye’s most breathtaking natural and historical sites.
Pamukkale Travertines (Calcium Terraces)
Marvel at the dazzling white limestone terraces, formed by mineral-rich thermal waters over thousands of years. Resembling cascading pools of cotton, these UNESCO-listed formations create an otherworldly landscape. Walk barefoot on the terraces and experience the soothing warm waters, much like the Mammoth Hot Springs in the USA or Huanglong in China.
Hierapolis Ancient City
Step into the ancient city of Hierapolis, meaning “Sacred City,” believed to have been founded by Apollo. Famous for its sacred hot springs and spiritual significance, Hierapolis was home to a large Jewish community and is even mentioned in Paul’s Letter to the Colossians. Explore its impressive ruins, including the grand theater, necropolis, and Roman baths.
Thermal Water Experience
Pamukkale’s thermal waters flow from the hot springs of Caldağ, maintaining a warm temperature year-round. Feel the rejuvenating effects as you stroll through the shallow pools, or unwind in open-air thermal pools at nearby motels and terraces.
Optional: Cleopatra’s Pool
For an even more immersive experience, enjoy an optional swim in Cleopatra’s Pool, where ancient submerged columns create a unique thermal bathing experience. (Bring your swimsuit and towel; tickets are available at the entrance.)
After the tour, we will drive back to Kuşadası, where you will spend the night. Overnight in Kuşadası.
